Vacations, do they mean the same for everyone?

Summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, summer is here, and the party started, started, started, started, started, started!

Schools are over, temperatures have risen and that means the best time of the year is approaching but... how do you experience the vacations as a minor in foster care? 🤔

Perhaps you have never asked yourself, what happens to the thousands of children living in foster care when summer comes? The reality is that there is no single answer but we will try to explain the most common situation for you to understand.

If foster children do not have the possibility of spending these days with extended families or foster families, they spend their vacations in the same center. This means that for many of them, the routine continues to be very similar to that of the school year.

Some time ago we discovered that for most of these children, this time was not as exciting as for their schoolmates. And although the residences work to ensure that they enjoy this period with activities, the reality is that their vacations are still very different from those of other children their age.

That is why, year after year, with an incredible team, we work hard to raise funds so that more children and adolescents can enjoy their vacations in our summer camps. We apply for calls for proposals, awards, organize a mega raffle and much more so that the children and adolescents of the reception centers in Madrid, Catalonia and Valencia have a few days of rest that allows them to return to school with lots of memories and anecdotes to share with all their classmates.
