The project

"Amigos Para Siempre" is a project whose main objective is for children to enjoy leisure and free time like any other child of their age.

Leisure is fundamental in the development of any child because through it we enhance skills such as creativity, social skills, healthy habits, emotional well-being... 

At Soñar Despierto we consider it fundamental that children enjoy themselves, get out of the residences and create new bonds through play and activities outside of the residence and this is not always possible with weekend educators alone.

Therefore, this program is looking for volunteers to accompany the children during their days off, allowing them to enjoy moments of play and creating bonds that, over time, often become a lifelong bond.

Why it is important

• They escape from the reality of their lives: the children we work with have often experienced difficult situations, such as abuse or abandonment. Free time gives them the opportunity to forget for a moment what they are going through and dedicate themselves only to enjoy and enjoy what they are, children.
• It fosters a sense of belonging: leisure and free time allow them to enjoy a more "normal" and balanced childhood, similar to that of other children. This helps them feel more integrated and accepted in society.
• Build meaningful relationships: Weekend outings allow children to build meaningful and trusting relationships with their volunteers. These relationships can fill the emotional void they often feel after separation from their biological families.
• They explore new interests and skills: free time provides an opportunity to discover their interests, talents and passions. They can find activities that they are passionate about and that provide them with a sense of identity and purpose.

In summary, the enjoyment of leisure and free time during childhood is essential for the holistic development of all children, but it is especially important for foster children because of the difficulties they may have faced. It gives them the opportunity to heal, learn, grow and enjoy as normal and enriching a childhood as possible.

How it works

Amigos Para Siempre is a volunteer program that takes place during the weekends, from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, both included.

This volunteering is weekly and we usually ask for commitment throughout the school year, as we like the volunteer to be a fundamental pillar in the emotional development of the children he/she accompanies and that the bonds established are consolidated over time.

From Soñar Despierto, we will publish the different needs that are shared with us from the residences and we will personally interview the volunteers to ensure that the profile that we incorporate to the residence is the right one for the child.
