The"Study Grants for Former Foster Children"projectprovidesassistance toyoung peopleover the age of 18 who have been in the child protection system. Our goal is to ensure that no young person who has been in care and has demonstrated a desire to continue studying is prevented from doing so because they lack the necessary financial or material resources. The project is therefore designed tocover all the tuition fees of those young people who have been in care and whomwe have previously selected, so that once they leave the center, they can continue studying and training.
We wantto reward their efforts and promote their social and professional integrationby providing them with the training and materials they need to successfully enter the workforce. To ensure the success of this project, we follow a strict selection process for candidates and guarantee that each minor is monitored by a mentor who accompanies them and provides emotional support.
Every year, Soñar Despierto launches acall for scholarship applicationsso that all teenagers (who are living in shelters and are about to reach the age of majority) who want to continue their education once they leave the protection system can do so.
After receiving all applications, the scholarship team conducts a series ofinterviews, following which the new cohort of scholarship recipients (around 30 each year) will be selected.
These scholarships will befunded by donations from various companies and/or individuals whobelieve in the project and want to "sponsor" it.
In addition, throughout the duration of their training, each scholarship recipient will have a volunteer who will act as a mentor.
The scholarship program is carried outin bothMadrid and Barcelona.
