This summer, more than 331 foster children had the opportunity to live an unforgettable experience thanks to the summer camps organized by Fundación Soñar Despierto. These camps not only represented a space for fun and recreation, but also an opportunity to grow, learn and dream big.
Of course, the success of this initiative would not have been possible without the unconditional support of all the people and companies that, with their donations, have made it possible. Thanks to their commitment, these children and adolescents have been able to enjoy a few days away from their usual environment, where leisure, education in values and contact with nature have become their main allies.
The minors under guardianship, due to life circumstances, have gone through difficult situations that affect their emotional and social development. These camps play a fundamental role in their well-being and personal growth. But... Why are they so important?
- Promotion of self-esteem and self-confidence: Through play and sports activities, these children discover their abilities, face new challenges and manage to overcome them. This strengthens their self-esteem and helps them believe in their abilities.
- Building healthy relationships: In the camps, children have the opportunity to live with other children and adults in a healthy and positive environment. These relationships foster companionship, empathy and respect for others.
- Development of social and emotional skills: Living in a different environment allows them to learn to manage their emotions, resolve conflicts peacefully and work as a team.
- Linking with nature and sports: Many of these children live in urban environments where access to nature is limited. Camps provide them with the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, engage in physical activities and connect with the natural environment, which is essential for their physical and mental development.
- Time for disconnection and enjoyment: These days away from routine allow them to leave worries behind and simply enjoy being children. Every moment becomes an opportunity to laugh, play and create happy memories that will stay with them for the rest of the year.
And thanks to all the people and companies that make up Soñar Despierto, we have made seven camps a reality, getting more than 300 children out of shelters during the holiday period. We would like to give special thanks to all the people and companies that have joined us in this cause, as your generosity has been the driving force that has made this dream possible for another year. Thanks to your contributions, we have been able to cover the costs of transportation, lodging, activities and materials necessary for these children to enjoy this experience to the fullest.
And now that the summer is over, we can only think about the start of the school year, the return to weekly volunteering, weekend activities and solidarity plans so that, together, we can ensure that the thousands of children living in shelters have the same opportunities as any other child their age.
